7. It'd Be A War Movie Instead Of A Fantasy

Though DC is right to pave their own path rather than follow the Marvel model, one trick they could borrow is to treat their movies not like superhero epics each time, but as different genre works. As such, a Green Lantern film starring John Stewart could easily play out like a war movie.

A tone like that would fit right into what Zack Snyder is trying to establish with his dark and gritty approach, but, in this instance, it would actually suit the character. On top of that, it would feel completely different from the fantasy/sci-fi genre of the 2011 film.

John Stewart is, after all, a military man, with his origin cemented as an engineer for the Marines. Coming from childhood trauma, he’s become disciplined and strict, resulting in a character that stands apart in his own movie.
