10 Reasons Jurassic World Is The Best Sequel In The Franchise

1. The I-Rex

Creating a dinosaur hybrid could have gone either way; when the idea was initially unveiled, some worried it would spill into the silliness of a Godzilla parody with atomic breath and x-ray vision. Thankfully the film gets the balance right between fantasy and reality. Any enhancements - the camouflage and increased intelligence are a nice touch, particularly in conjunction with the military side plot - feel logical and you really do get the feeling this beast would come in handy when it comes to armed combat. Colin Trevorrow also gets things right when it comes to showing the dinosaur off. He follows Spielberg's lead in limiting how much you get to see in the first 45 minutes: a glimpse through some foliage here, a reflection in the glass there, but nothing more. This cranks up the anticipation and, thankfully, when you do see the monster, the effects really hold up. This is what the third film got badly wrong with Spinosaurus. Here the dinosaur was revealed too soon and the SFX team got things badly wrong with the balance between CGI and practical effects. Long shots of the mechanical version and close-ups of the CGI monster during the T Rex fight scene failed to create a believable creature. But there are no such problems here. As Mr Masrani said, this will even give the parents nightmares. If there is a sequel, and it looks increasingly likely, fans will be demanding the return of a new franchise favourite. What did you make of Jurassic World? Love or hate, have your say down in the comments.

Adam Thompson hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
