10 Reasons Kick-Ass 2 Failed Miserably

2. Katie Is Reduced To A Nonsensical Cameo

Kick Ass 2

Katie Deauxma was a pivotal character in the first Kick-Ass, serving as the object of Dave's affections who believed him to be gay, and who eventually forgave him upon discovering the truth, eventually embarking on a relationship with him. To be fair, this is never how it went down in the comic; in the source material, Dave tells Katie he's not gay, and she not only gets her boyfriend to beat him up, but sends Dave a picture of her performing oral sex on him. The problem is that Wadlow clearly wanted to resolve the Katie arc that was left open at the end of the first film, but didn't want to stray too far from the comic. So, here, Katie - whose personality is quite different from the comic variant - suddenly becomes a super-b*tch when she thinks that Dave is cheating on her with Mindy. Without giving him a chance to explain, she dumps him and implies that she's been cheating on him. It's utterly ridiculous and makes very little sense to anyone who has watched the first film recently.
