10 Reasons Kong: Skull Island Might Be 2017's Most Surprising Success
9. The Cast Is Fantastic
To make another comparison to 2014's Godzilla, the cast for Kong: Skull Island is just so much, well...better. One of Godzilla's strongest assets was the inclusion of Bryan Cranston, a passionate, empathetic figure who unfortunately doesn't stick around for much longer than the first twenty minutes. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are okay, but they do little to really connect with the audience.
Then there's the cast of Kong: Skull Island: Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly... a host of actors who are at the top of their game, with Brie Larson having just won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
From the trailer alone the cast looks to have fantastic chemistry, and the characters have great personality, with Jackson, Goodman and Reilly all at their exaggerated, campy best (I mean just look at Reilly's character's great big bushy beard).
