10 Reasons Mad Max: Fury Road Is The Weirdest Blockbuster Ever
2. ...While The Vehicles Look Like Rusted Porcupines
The vehicle design in Fury Road is, like the character and general world design, singular and clearly taken from the mind of Miller, as opposed to from a committee of designers trying to create something audience-friendly. So it's bizarre, naturally. The vehicles in Fury Road represent an evolution from the vehicles found in The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. Basically, they look a lot more elaborate, much less road-worthy, and many of them sport a good 50% more rusty spikes than in previous Mad Max movies (the Buzzard tribe's porcupine-like jalopies are especially spiny). Of course, no one vehicle truly looks the same in Fury Road - there are armoured tankers, turbocharged Chevys, chariot-like monster trucks, decrepit motorcycles, tow trucks repurposed as destruction trucks and hot rods welded to the bodies of tanks. All are unique, none are expected.
