10 Reasons The New Peanuts Film Will Be A Complete Success
9. The Script
There are essentially three generations of Schulz' involved in the making of this film: Charles Schulz' original content and material, his son Craig as producer, and Craig's son Bryan who is co-writing the screenplay with friend Cornelius Uliano. While the trend might be that Hollywood revamps often exclude the original creator in exchange for greater profits, Peanuts couldn't be further from that case. Although both Bryan and Cornelius have no substantial writing credits to their names, we know that the Schulz family gets final say when it comes to the story. If it doesn't meet their standards, or their father's for that matter, it doesn't fly. No one is revealing any plot details just yet but Craig has jokingly said, "It's about a round headed kid and his dog, and that's about as far as I'm willing to go." We do, however, have confirmation that much of the original cast will be appearing and we'll finally get an answer to a lifelong mystery; who is that little red haired girl? What's clear is that this is a project of passion and love from all its creators, both old and new, and when adapting his grandfather's classic comic strip into a feature film, Bryan has 50 years' worth of material to inspire him. Whether or not the film will feature a brand new story or one primarily adapted from the strips - like most of the television specials did - is unclear, but what is clear is that the story won't be anything other than what Fox has labeled the film in its teaser trailer, "Peanuts by Schulz".
