10 Reasons Prometheus 2 Should Be Scrapped For Alien 5

10. Prometheus Was Heavily Flawed

Prometheus was a grand opportunity to course-correct the Alien franchise and make us love this property again after two not-so-great Alien sequels. What we got was a beautiful but deeply flawed sci-fi curiosity, a movie that didn't even begin to live up to its promise even if it was in many ways better than Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. However, scripting issues blew a lot of the potential, because there were just so many incredulous and unbelievably out-of-character moments, such as the scientists taking their helmets off with a bizarre willingness after one healthy reading of the air, and Rafe Spall's character taking absolutely no precautions when being confronted by the Hammerpede. Other scenes just play as strangely flat, despite decent acting and Scott's firm direction, particularly when Vickers (Charlize Theron) decides to barbecue Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green). Then there's the scene where Vickers runs away from the crashing derelict ship in a straight line rather than, you know, running sideways or just rolling a few times, and she's crushed to death as a result. Mind-numbingly stupid creative decisions like this just piled up and severely affected our enjoyment of the film. With these flaws in mind, why should we expect Prometheus 2 to show any more respect for its audience? It just might be best to leave that world alone...
