10 Reasons Shazam Needs To Be In Justice League 2

9. He's Basically The Phil Coulson Of The DCEU

To be more accurate, Freddy Freeman is the Phil Coulson of the DCEU. Just as Coulson is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resident Captain America fanboy, Freddy collects memorabilia and knows everything there is to know about the most prominent Justice League members. He even wears multiple Aquaman t-shirts, and cites Arthur Curry's command over sea creatures as a fact, whereas Justice League's Batman appears to consider this power a questionable rumor.

With Freddy's influence, Billy stands to learn quite a bit about the Justice League as well. If Shazam were to join the League, this fanboy perspective could prove useful in a unique way. While Coulson's fandom was used as a tool by Nick Fury to unite the Avengers, Freddy's collection of newspaper headlines can give Billy insight into something the DCEU seems strangely obsessed with - optics.

If not for political optics, major events in the first few DCEU films would never have happened. Superman's shaky optics in the wake of Man of Steel contributed to the formation of Task Force X, as well as Bruce Wayne's paranoid obsession with the Last Son of Krypton. Batman's own optics suffered as a result of poor coverage by The Daily Planet, inspiring Clark Kent's motivation to pursue the Caped Crusader.

According to the paper on Freddy's wall, the Justice League stands in favor after their prevention of Steppenwolf's attack. Things change, however, and public opinion in the DCEU can apparently sway at the drop of a hat. Should the Justice League ever need a third-party perspective on how the public views their actions, Billy can be their inside man. If nothing else, he can at least ask his roommate.
