10 Reasons Snyder's Batman Will Be Superior To Nolan's

5. Snyder Is A True Comic Book Fan

In a Q&A session after the release of The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan admitted that he was not a comic book fan. His Dark Knight trilogy makes it clear that Nolan viewed the Batman mythology as something that needed to be completely reimagined to elevate it into greatness. Nolan€™s stance led his franchise to great success, creating a Batman unlike any cinematic incarnation of the character that came before it. It also resulted in the source material becoming diluted, costing Batman some of his mythic aura. Zack Snyder€™s view of the medium is the polar opposite of Nolan€™s. Before he reinvented Superman in Man of Steel, Snyder€™s comic book adaptations, 300 and Watchmen, were slavish in their devotion to the source material. He painstakingly recreated panels directly from the source comics almost to a fault. Unlike Nolan, Snyder doesn€™t believe comic books need to be elevated into greatness because greatness exists within the medium already; it only needs to be translated into cinematic form. Snyder€™s fandom will help him to embrace the character of Batman as he exists in the comic books, without condescending to the fans who have made Batman an enduring pop culture icon for the last 75 years.
