10 Reasons Solo Is The Worst Star Wars Film To Date

8. A Complete Lack Of Pathos

In regards to the Prequels, they did have a soul. The story of Anakin's downfall and the destruction of the Jedi Order was ultimately a powerful tragedy which probably would've been fine if George Lucas had just done the story and let someone else do the dialogue.

The Phantom Menace was a political thriller, Attack of the Clones was a love story, and Revenge of the Sith was a tragedy. Sure, they didn't do those things well but at least they did... something. Solo feels like it was put together on an assembly line and with no soul or charisma, it's a painfully dull viewing experience.

Star Wars has always been more of a simple adventure story than anything else, but here there isn't the slightest bit of pathos, the characters don't learn anything meaningful from each other, and any kind of emotional drama is non-existent. Worst of all, the film doesn't add anything to Han Solo's character and we learn nothing about his darker side or his insecurities.

Thanks to this utter lack of emotion, it's hard to get invested in this even when looking at it as a spectacle.
