10 Reasons Solo Is The Worst Star Wars Film To Date
5. The Troubled Production Does Show This Time
Solo really went through a hellish production, but unlike with Rogue One, it actually shows this time.
Rogue One was all over the place in the first act and there was a lot of material from the trailers that was totally missing, but other than that it was a coherent and highly successful movie where it wasn't immediately obvious that there were a lot of re-shoots.
With Solo, in fairness it is a coherent and simple plot but you can tell production was messy. In some places, there's a fair bit of comedy which feels like the work of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, but much of this disappears from the movie as it goes on.
Many of the characters, ideas and plot points also feel largely rushed and there isn't really an over-arching goal or end-game, so it does feel like Disney gave up on the movie halfway through shooting.
It's not that it feels like several creative visions conflicting; it's more like there just wasn't any direction whatsoever.
