The anticipation for Rogue One is astounding. Fans have yet to see a teaser, or even a teaser for a teaser of the film, but the hype around it is immense. At the start of the year Fandago conducted a poll among moviegoers asking them to pick their most anticipated 2016 release; the next Star Wars film took the number one spot with a bullet. Just take a moment to appreciate that - the film has accomplished this off the strength of one official photograph of the cast and only a few tidbits about the plot; all it has to do is deliver an exciting trailer to reap a box office bonanza. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Captain America: Civil War landed in the polls top ten as well at third and fifth place respectively. Now, both features could be number one in 2016, but have handicaps working against them; Marvels last big superhero offering, Avengers: Age Of Ultron failed to out-gross The Avengers, while Batman V Superman is only the second film in DCs cinematic universe and its predecessor, Man Of Steel, didnt gross nearly as much as The Force Awakens. The next Lucasfilm feature will build off one of cinemas greatest successes and already has more hype than the competition. How will it not prove to be an unstoppable moneymaking force? Do you think Rogue One will be the highest grossing film of 2016? What could beat it? Argue your case down in the comments.
