10 Reasons Terminator Genisys Isn't As Bad As You Think
7. The De-Aging Of Arnold Was Very Impressive
Much like Jeff Bridges in Tron: Legacy, Arnold was digitally de-aged for some scenes in Terminator: Genisys. And while there was a distinctly "fake" look to him in some shots, given that he's a Terminator, it actually works in the film's favour.
For the most part, the aging was handled really well. Including why a Terminator would age in the first place - a nugget delivered to the film by none other than James Cameron himself - who pointed out that since Terminators are human flesh growing over a metal endoskeleton, while the metal might stay strong, the flesh would age.
Towards the end of the film, "Pops" (so named by a young Sarah Connor, who is raised by the Terminator) is essentially Arnold as he is in real life today, but in the context of the story, that worked fine. In fact, Arnold's performance was one of the strongest points of the movie. Not that you would expect anything less.
And seeing old Arnold vs. young Arnold was frankly very cool.
