10 Reasons Terminator Genisys Isn't As Bad As You Think

8. The Balance Of Action And Humour Was On Point

Critics of Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines can rightfully point to the star-shaped glasses and "talk to the hand" sequence as low points in the Terminator franchise's history. They're spot on with that criticism. The jokes were the wrong kind of corny.

That said, it doesn't mean humour should be eliminated from the series entirely. It worked well in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and it feels as if the series has been looking to find the balance that film established ever since.

Again, Terminator: Genisys does a better job of that than prior installments. Quips like Pops saying he was "stuck in traffic" and Sarah Connor working to train Pops to smile to blend in actually work in the context in the movie. Far better, at least, than the lame attempt to recreate Hasta La Vista, Baby in Terminator 3 by replacing it with "talk to the hand."

While Genisys might rely on quips a little too much, it's still a decent effort.
