10 Reasons Terminator Genisys Isn't As Bad As You Think

3. It Was A Chase Movie Again

At their heart, the best Terminator movies were all chase movies. Even Rise of the Machines went that route, and in fact the only one that did not (ignoring the TV show) was Terminator: Salvation. And look at where that got the franchise.

Genisys wisely returns to the chase movie premise. Throughout the film, the action centres on either the protagonists being chased (by the T-1000 or John Connor) or doing the chasing (more towards the end, when they're basically racing to prevent the launch of Skynet).

This forces the action to go at a frantic pace. In fact, it's actually a bit of a double-edged sword: one of the more legitimate criticisms of Terminator: Genisys is that it's a bit rushed. It tries to go the Mad Max: Fury Road route of never slowing down, only lacking a director of George Miller's capabilities, can't quite do it and effectively tell the story.

Still, it's far from the terrible film some are making it out to be, and it wisely went back to its roots in this regard.
