10 Reasons Terminator Genisys Isn't As Bad As You Think

2. Pops And Sarah's Bond

If there's a high point in the acting of Terminator: Genisys aside from the always passable JK Simmons, who wasn't in the film very much, and Matt Smith, who also wasn't in the film very much, it's Arnold Schwarzenegger himself and his bond with Emilia Clarke's Sarah Connor.

While Clarke seems to take a while to settle into the role (she hits highs and lows but rarely is a film ever lensed sequentially, so the unevenness is likely just the aforementioned settling in), she's at her best when working directly with the Oak. In turn, his very best moments come with her - when it seems as if the machine who shouldn't feel is, in fact, showing something bordering on emotion.

Towards the very end, when he refers to her as "my Sarah" - yeah. That pretty much sells it.

It's actually fairly unanimous that Arnold is solid in the film. EW, who more or less panned the movie, actually ran with the headline "Terminator Genisys isn't good, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is great in it" at the start of the month. Word of mouth has been high on Arnie even when down on the rest of the flick.

Schwarzenegger may be old - but he's not obsolete.
