10 Reasons The Dark Tower Bombed

3. The Lack Of Interesting Female Characters

Wonder Woman proved a few short months ago just how starved for potent heroines female moviegoers are, and how eagerly they'll buy a ticket to a movie with a compelling female character, by they a lead or not.

Now, nobody's saying that additional female characters needed to be shoehorned into the film, but would it have killed them to develop Jake's mother Laurie a little more beyond merely being an attractive blonde woman who gets killed by the Man in Black?

And what about Arra Champignon, who appears and disappears in and out of the film at a whim with almost zero character development at all? Terrible.

Perhaps including fan favourite character Susannah Dean would've given the movie the distaff boost it desperately needed, and at least added a few minutes to that meager run-time.
