If there's one criticism to be levelled at The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, it's that there's a crucial tension missing from the film's action sequences. Fans know Marvel Studios has plans for most of the main characters - the slate of Marvel movies runs until 2028, after all - so any question of survival for the likes of Captain America, Thor and the like is answered before the film's even begun. Thankfully, that shouldn't be an issue for Suicide Squad, a standalone movie packed full of characters, both well-known and less-so, many of whom probably won't be doing much crossing over into other DCCU films (indeed, there are no obvious DC/Warner Bros. plans for any Suicide Squad character to get their own movie). What's more, the film is called 'Suicide Squad' - right there in the title is the implication that not everyone is going to be making it to the end. The members of Task Force X being so difficult to root for is an already obvious selling point for a movie in a subgenre where the protagonists are almost always wholly decent. That the fate of every character is so unpredictable only adds to the fun. Where do you stand on Suicide Squad? Let us know in the comments below.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
