Not that there's much worry Tom Holland can't meet the second requirement either. In between those smaller, character-driven pieces some of his early big roles were in big films: in 2012 he starred in Juan Antonio Bayona's The Impossible, which recreated the experiences of one family during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Marvel superhero movies are all about the huge, special effects-driven spectacle, but they should seem like a piece of cake to Holland after he's already lived through the gruelling process of having several metric tonnes of ice cold water flung at him. Putting on some tights and being flung about on some wires will be like a holiday in comparison. The year after Holland was in How I Live Now, an equally traumatising and apocalyptic movie about World War III breaking out and having to try and survive in the woods with his angsty cousin Saoirse Ronan. Not only does he wear the classic Peter Parker glasses in that film, but he manages to be sweet and charming amidst big-budget destruction.
