9. He Can Present Himself As Both A Loner And A Father Figure
The first time we see Jackman as Wolverine onscreen, hes in a cage match fighting a Canadian looney (crazy man) for a few Canadian loonies (dollars), just so he can continue his important work of driving to nowhere in particular. But when he realizes he has a teenage girl stowaway, he instantly finds his motivation. He spends the rest of the first X-Men film counseling Rogue, consoling her and trying to protect her. This fatherly aspect of his character has deep roots in the comics, where Logan has mentored young mutants like Kitty Pryde, Jubilee and Armor. Jackman makes it stick, especially in the terrifying moment where he believes hes sleep-clawed Rogue to death. Later movies built on this by having Logan safeguard groups of kids, then the whole school. Even Days of Future Past surrounds him with youngsters. But when youre as old as Logan, everyone feels a bit like your kid.
