10 Reasons Why DC Should Give Up On Its Cinematic Universe
2. No One Has A Clue What's Going On With Joker
When fans got their first look at Jared Leto's Joker a year before Suicide Squad was due for release, the reaction was... controversial, to say the very least. Most were willing to look past the tats however, citing Leto's previous performances as a reason to be optimistic.
It turned out, however, that David Ayer's film wasn't all that good, and one of the worst things about it was, in fact, the 30 Seconds to Mars' frontman's frankly bizarre rendition of the clown prince of crime. Stories had swirled for months beforehand of Leto's frankly ridiculous antics on the film's set, and by the time he got on screen, well, he was just a bit disappointing really.
News of a standalone Joker feature once again places Leto's future in the role in jeopardy, although news has emerged today that - because Warner Bros. are clueless, evidently - he'll be reprising his role with Margot Robbie for a Harley and Joker romantic comedy.
The archetypal abusive relationship, portrayed as a rom-com.
As if the DCEU could get any more tone-deaf.
