2. Karen Allen
Its unfortunate that most of the women who appeared in
Indiana Jones didnt have sparkling careers afterwards. Kate Capshaw got lucky (she married Spielberg), but former Bond girl Alison Doody gradually faded from view. Karen Allen has continued to pop up in big-screen roles, such as John Carpenters hugely underrated
Starman, but you would have expected someone of her talents to have a few more big roles. Regardless of this fact, her performance is one of the very best things about
Crystal Skull. Spielberg and Lucas have spoken about Indys love-hate relationship with women , and Indy openly acknowledges about how all the others never lived up to her (though, lets be honest, only Elsa offered any real competition). Marion is a rounded, strong, three-dimensional female character who isnt willing to just be a plot device for Indy to rescue. Allens performance has a great energy which lifts the piece even if it raises the question of how two immensely charismatic people could produce someone as bland as Shia LeBeouf.
