10 Reasons Why Legacy Characters Are The Future Of The MCU

5. Legacy Characters Add Ten Years Onto The MCU, Easy

With side characters taking the reins of their respective franchises, and having 2 - 3 instalments of their own provided box office figures stay healthy, you're looking at an additional nine or ten years of life breathed into the MCU. They provide more opportunities to build upon what came before, and introduce even more great and obscure characters/storylines from the comics. With reboots, you're obliged to cover all the classic villains that we'd have most likely already seen on screen by that point - arguably a waste. Who doesn't want to see Rhodey fight Fing Fang Foom? Or Sam Wilson take on M.O.D.O.K.? The real challenge with legacy characters will admittedly be fighting audience fatigue, but keeping things fresh with old characters stepping into familiar roles would hopefully keep audiences around - even if it is for another ten years. Don't underestimate fan loyalty, Marvel.
