10 Reasons Why Mad Max: Fury Road Beats Furious 7

2. Brutal Violence Which Doesn't Skimp On The Blood

When it comes to the level of violence - and the brutality or lack of - in a movie, the rating the film has been granted is always going to dictate what can and cannot be shown. With that in mind, Furious 7, with its PG-13 certificate, was never going to match up to the R rated Mad Max: Fury Road. The Fast And Furious franchise has always targetted itself at the teenage boy demographic (although it has plenty of adult fans too) so expecting it to compare to the more adult-oriented Mad Max series when it comes to bloody violence is perhaps unfair, but nevertheless the distinction does count where it matters the most - in how it affects a film's enjoyment. The fights, shootouts and action in Furious 7 are thoroughly entertaining but since there's no real blood or bruises to speak of the action looses its clout and impact. Fury Road, on the other hand, lets the audience feel every bone-crunching blow, and when people get shot they bleed, sometimes profusely. These touches of realism make all the difference to an action scene's impact.
