5. No J. Jonah Jameson?
One of the very best things about Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was the pitch-perfect casting of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, the cranky editor of The Daily Bugle who would frequently be a professional thorn in Peter Parker's side as well as one of Spider-Man's biggest public detractors. It's difficult to imagine anyone else playing the role - though rumours persist online that Paul Giamatti is, in fact, not playing Rhino but instead Jameson, which is admittedly pretty cool - and so the thought occasions itself; why not just cast Simmons in the reboot? Yes, it's always tricky territory when carrying over relics from a defunct version of a rebooted franchise, but hey, M managed to fit into the Daniel Craig Bond reboot without too much trouble, so I'm sure that audiences could accept Simmons rearing his mustachioed head again. What's more, Simmons has openly stated that he would be more than happy to reprise the role if asked. We can only hope that he has been asked in secret, and it's being kept under wraps for now.
