10 Reasons Why Val Kilmer Is The Most Underrated Batman

8. He Would Have Been At Home In Darker Batman Movies

Though that infamous cheesy grin would have you believing otherwise (everybody falls in love at some point their lives, okay?), Val Kilmer's Dark Knight could actually be rather intimidating when he wanted to be.

Unlike George Clooney, the actor approached the role like he would have if it had been a more serious Batman film, and thus, the character managed to remain stoic amid all the madness, and had no problem terrorising neon-lit gangs to get the answers that he needed. Like the comic book character himself, he wasn't in the mood for the gleeful craziness that was carrying on around him simply because he was never in the mood.

Though his Bruce Wayne was understandably emotional, his Batman was just as dark and tortured a soul as Michael Keaton's, so it's a shame that we weren't given the chance to see what he could do in a similar kind of movie.

"Bats aren't rodents, Dr. Meridian." he told Chase, with a single slightly-threatening step towards her - and we all believed in him in an instant, because this was a guy you didn't want to mess with... and isn't that what Batman is all about?
