Val Kilmer's turn as the Dark Knight may have divided a large portion of the fans of the franchise, but one person who really seemed to appreciate what he did with the role was none other than Batman co-creator Bob Kane.

Following the film's release, Kane partook in an interview with Cinemascape, during which he was asked to choose which actor he thought did the best job as Batman (at the time), and yes, believe it or not, he chose Kilmer.

As he passed away in 1998, we'll never know if he would have maintained that opinion had he seen Christian Bale or Ben Affleck's later takes on the role. That being said, Kilmer obviously made an impression on one of the founding fathers of Batman's legacy and that, in itself, is reason to respect his performance as The Caped Crusader.
