Even Batman falls in love and, though not all of his big-screen adventures highlighted that, Batman Forever was one of the few that gave his love life some much-needed attention.
Surprisingly, the romance that eventually developed between Bruce Wayne/Batman and Dr. Chase Meridian proved to be one of the standout aspects of the film. While it certainly benefited from the reflective storytelling between Chase and Bruce's respective arcs (they were both unable to choose between Bruce and Batman), it was the chemistry between Kilmer and Nicole Kidman that set this one apart.
Even when half of his face was concealed by the Batman mask, Kilmer managed to convey Bruce's lust for Meridian incredibly well, so whenever the pair of them got together on-screen, sparks flew - every single time.
Not all Batman films have pulled off storylines revolving around Bruce's love life, with more successful offerings like The Dark Knight Rises failing to provide a strong romance angle, so the fact that Batman Forever managed to pull it off is a testament to the acting abilities of both Kilmer and Kidman.
