10 Reasons You're Getting Tired Of Marvel Movies

5. The Obligatory Stan Lee Cameos

There’s something reassuring about the presence of Stan Lee, and the movies sourced from Marvel comics where he doesn’t appear (Ghost Rider, X-Men Origins: Wolverine etc) certainly aren’t anything to crow about, but that’s no reason to endlessly recycle the same gag.

Having previously appeared in several other movies sourced from Marvel comics, the joke was well established by the time Iron Man reached screens, and had begun to wear thin.

In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Stan appears (as “Stan Lee”) playing a drunken guest who walks out while slurring, “Excelsior!” It feels a lot like the film itself – forced and familiar.
