10 Reasons You're Getting Tired Of Marvel Movies

6. There's A Lack Of Resonance

They’re called Popcorn Movies for a reason: like the stuff sold at the concession stand, they’re not meant to last, but that doesn’t mean they have to be so disposable that you forget them in the time it takes to leave the cinema.

The trouble with interconnected movies is that the characters and situations become overly familiar, and the familiar tends not to resonate. Girlfriends and/ or children are there to be kidnapped by henchmen, and on the rare occasions that a good guy dies, he does so heroically and is able to make One Last Speech.

Whenever certain characters are on screen, the outcome is never in doubt, while others might as well wear Star Trek red shirts. To paraphrase Stan Lee, if you’ve don’t care about the characters, it’s less a movie than a business deal.
