1. He's Too Focused On The Visuals
I've said it before, and I'm saying it now: Zack Snyder needs to stop caring so much about visuals. It diminishes the other important aspects of his movies. Just imagine if we cared about any of the girls with silly names in Sucker Punch. Wouldn't that have made for a better and more memorable experience? Or if any characters had interesting dialogue in any of the films he's written. Or if the entire opening of Man of Steel hadn't ripped off Avatar. Okay, so green screen will help to creates the epic backgrounds that will be required in Batman Vs. Superman. But filming on location, or on a set, will look much better for Batman's gritty Gotham shots. Slow motion will make Superman's abilities far less impressive... and changing the colour scheme will remove the realistic look required to show the effects of the battle on everyday people. There's something about his style that doesn't quite gel. Zack Snyder is not the worst director in the world. But he is far from what DC needs in a director for a film of this magnitude. The concept will be enough to get people in the seats. The direction may be what gets them to stand back up.
