2. The Final Kiss - You People

You People
Netflix

Netflix's recent rom-com You People focuses on an interracial couple, Ezra (Jonah Hill) and Amira (Lauren London), navigating the challenges of their clashing family cultures.

It all ends happily, of course, with Ezra and Amira tying the knot - a bond that's customarily sealed with a kiss as the families celebrate. Yet believe it or not, that closing slow-motion money shot of Hill and London locking lips was achieved through digital trickery.

Actor Andrew Schulz, who plays a supporting role in the film, confirmed on a recent episode of the podcast The Brilliant Idiots that the two actors never kissed while shooting the scene, with the pair instead pausing before they touched lips and the rest of the work being achieved in post.

And indeed, if you watch the shot carefully, there's a split second where the actors' faces morph ever-so-slightly, with the VFX department quite cleverly covering the foreground in falling confetti to better conceal the effect.

It hasn't been confirmed why the kiss was created after-the-fact, though given that You People was shot back in late 2021, it's been speculated that pandemic-related production restrictions may have been the reason.

Beyond the quality of the movie itself, it's just an odd decision otherwise.
