10 Recent Horror Movie Deaths Nobody Saw Coming

2. Kay - Alien: Romulus

Someone you can (almost) always count on to survive in a horror movie beyond children? Pregnant women... unless they're in a Fede Álvarez movie, apparently.

For even though the trailers for Alien: Romulus freely showed glimpses of pregnant colonist Kay (Isabela Merced) screaming with blood splashed over her face, who could've ever seen... this coming?

As it turns out, a critically injured Kay is rescued from being cocooned by the Xenomorph, and ends up injecting herself with the mysterious alien compound Z–01 (aka the "black goo" from Prometheus) to stem her injuries. However, this results in her suddenly - and violently - giving birth to an alien cocoon, which hatches a human–Xenomorph hybrid that quickly grows into a towering 8-foot-tall monstrosity.

With Kay grimly wounded by the birthing process, she's defenseless to fend off her alien offspring, which swiftly makes short work of her in one of the most existentially horrifying death scenes in the entire Alien franchise - which is really saying something.

And now before our final entry, know that MAJOR SPOILERS will follow for Terrifier 3 if you haven't seen it yet...
