10 Recent Movie Endings NOBODY Saw Coming

First things first, if you've not seen The Last Stop in Yuma County yet, drop what you're doing and go watch it, because it's awesome.

Francis Galluppi's terrifically crafted crime thriller takes place in a diner, where two bank robbers are holed up while waiting for a refuelling truck to arrive so they can gas up their car and flee the state.

This requires them to take everyone inside the diner hostage, and while cinematic convention dictates that the most "heroic" characters - either the unnamed knife salesman (Jim Cummings) or the diner's waitress Charlotte (Jocelin Donahue) - will save the day, that's not quite what happens.

In the third act, a tense Mexican standoff leads to a shootout in which every character in the diner, except for the knife salesman, is killed. 

He flees the scene with the robbers' money, only to kill a young couple who stumble upon the scene and get into a scuffle with him, before he and the local sheriff end up killing each other.

Hell, even the damn bird we glimpsed at the start of the movie gets devoured by a hawk in the film's final shot, because why the hell not? That isn't how anyone expected things to go.
