4. George Clooney's Cameo - The Flash

The Flash certainly had one hell of a complicated journey to the big screen, with much being written long before the film's release about how extensively it was tinkered with during its length post-production period.

And most of the futzing came down to the ending, where Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) meets up with Bruce Wayne, who rather than be played by Ben Affleck, is now replaced by George Clooney as a kooky result of Barry's temporal hijinks.

The fact that Clooney had long sworn off ever appearing in another Batman film after Batman & Robin made it blindingly clear that he wasn't always part of the plan, but rather, Warner Bros. managed to convince him - possibly with a large dump-truck of cash - shortly before release.

As it turns out, the original ending would've seen Barry meet up with the Michael Keaton version of Bruce Wayne he encounters earlier in the film, in turn setting up a sequel intended to lead to a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie in the future.

But amid both the WarnerMedia/Discovery Inc. merger and major executive reshufflings at DC Studios, this was all tossed out, with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over the charge and overseeing a new ending with Clooney.

Clooney reportedly filmed his shock cameo in January 2023, just five months before The Flash's release, and well over a year after principal photography wrapped.

It's such a deranged - if hilarious - final twist that, beyond anything else, there's just no possibility it was ever the original plan.
