10 Recent Movie Sequels NOBODY Expected To Be Good
8. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey II
Given that the first Winnie-the-Pooh-themed slasher flick scored a paltry 3% on the Tomatometer, there was little reason to expect any better from its rushed-to-market follow-up, especially considering the track record of hastily assembled horror sequels.
And while Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey II was hardly a great movie, it did mark a major step up in quality from its slung-together predecessor.
Smartly spending its considerably larger budget on beefed-up production values, Blood and Honey II benefits from vastly superior makeup and gore effects, ensuring it gets closer to fully realising the promise of its campy premise.
Sure, it's still dumb as a brick and fundamentally cynical as a creative exercise, but did anyone expect this sequel to land a not-bad 47% score from critics?
Unsurprisingly, the series' too-small-to-fail business model ensured that a third outing is already in development, and after Blood and Honey II demonstrated actual growth from the filmmakers, maybe it'll end up being even better.
