10 Recent Movie Sequels NOBODY Expected To Be Good
9. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera

On paper, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera seemed destined to be yet another sequel to a modestly successful genre film which just spent way too long in development.
The original Gerard Butler-starring heist flick was released in 2018, and despite scoring mixed reviews from critics was a surprise box office hit, enough that a sequel was confirmed to be in development within weeks of its release.
Butler, co-star O'Shea Jackson Jr., and filmmaker Christian Gudegast spent the next five-or-so years reiterating that Den of Thieves 2 was going to happen, even if continual delays and lengthy periods of radio silence left its future in doubt.
And by the time the sequel landed in cinemas this past January, some 18 months after it wrapped shooting, there was a general feeling that the time to strike while the iron was hot had long since passed.
Despite arriving at least a few years too late and lacking the screen presence of original co-star Pablo Schreiber, Den of Thieves 2 was still a laudably sturdy sequel largely thanks to the chemistry between Butler and Jackson, and also Gudegast's fine-tuned action chops.
Thankfully fans probably won't be left waiting another seven years for Den of Thieves 3, which already has a completed script and recently received the greenlight from Lionsgate. Let's go.
