10 Recent Movie Trailers That Totally Lied To You
1. My Old Ass
The trailers for recent dramedy My Old Ass did a remarkable job of selling the movie's enticing premise, where 18-year-old Elliott (Maisy Stella) gets stoned and makes contact with her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza).
From said trailer, you'd surely assume that the film is basically a quirky buddy hangout movie centered around the dynamic between the two versions of Elliott, yet that's not really the case.
Plaza's older Elliott actually only appears on-screen for a few brief scenes in the first and third act, and spends most of the film's middle portion communicating with Elliott over the phone.
Plaza's screen time might total around 20 minutes, yet her presence all throughout the film's trailers certainly implies that she's a co-lead alongside actual star Maisy Stella, who recently won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Breakthrough Performance for her work.
It's still a film well worth watching regardless, though for anyone drawn to My Old Ass by Plaza's presence, it's worth knowing upfront that her role is a rather small supporting one.
