9. Jack Quaid as Josh - Companion
Companion is a bittersweet concoction of black comedy and sci-fi blended within a psychological thriller that features some great actors and performances to show for it.
You'll find yourself rooting for Sophie Thatcher's Iris, and that's to be expected when you take into account who her boyfriend is. Jack Quaid's Josh is just about as dislikable and detestable as they come, which is a testament to just how good of an actor he is and how well he played the part in question.
He's pretty pathetic in all honesty, but loves nothing more than knowing and showing that he has total control over his companion - or companions. Iris may be programmed to love Josh, but that almost definitely isn't reciprocated, considering he manipulates her to murder someone for his material gain.
Josh is the kind of villain who lives in today's world already, and that's what makes him even scarier because he believes he's the hero of his own story and is subsequently doing the right thing when in reality, it's the total opposite.
Son of Dennis and Meg Ryan, Quaid has more than enough star power behind him to make it in the industry, but he's doing everything right to establish himself as a dependable and deserving actor all on his own.
Even Companion's crew were rooting against his villainous character during production, so he must be doing something right!
