8. Jason Bateman as Traveler - Carry-On

Those surprised to see Jason Bateman play the bad guy mustn't have watched Ozark because this was not his first rodeo.

Jaume Collet-Serra's Carry-On was nothing short of a pleasant surprise. Is it perfect? No, but it's a fun throwback to '90s action flicks.

Netflix originals are often hit or miss. If we're being honest with ourselves, they're largely misses, but this feels like more of a hit, and that is due to Jason Bateman's performance of the enigmatic 'Traveler'. As tremendous an actor as Taron Egerton is, Bateman can't help but steal the show.

As his character puts it, "I'm not some cartoon villain", and that's case in point. There's no moustache twirling, scars or white cats, for example. He's articulate, efficient and meticulous, all while seeing himself as just a regular guy with a job to do, no matter how immoral or unjust his actions are.

The Traveler is played as cool, calm and collected, which you'd expect from Jason Bateman, but at the same time, there is an underlying tension that makes him immensely menacing.

It's no secret that he thrives in comedic roles as his career suggests, but the multitalented actor looks just as comfortable in more dramatic and serious roles, like Ozark, The Outsider and The Gift, all showcase.

Should a petition ever pop up for Jason Bateman to play the bad guy more often, then consider this entry a signature.
