10 Recent Movies That Grossly Overestimated What Their CGI Could Do

For the most part Deadpool 2 is a smartly-assembled sequel: its $110 million budget is almost double that of the original, but for the most part it's clear where that money has gone, and the movie's all the better for it.

Though there are few effects in the film that many would consider first-rate, the CGI throughout Deadpool 2 is at least consistently decent. However, there's one brief, conspicuously ugly sequence which just doesn't cut the mustard.

During the infamous X-Force assault sequence, Domino (Zazie Beetz) is one of the few heroes to make it to the ground, and upon her landing in the street, we're treated to a ghastly CGI-fuelled sequence in which she causes a series of car accidents, resulting in a petrol station spectacularly exploding.

The quality of the effects takes a horrendous dip here: it's blatantly obvious Beetz is standing in front of a digital road, the animated falling lampost and swerving car are insanely janky, and the plastic-looking explosion wouldn't seem amiss in a movie from the early-2000s.

It's a shame as it ruins what's otherwise an awesome introduction to Domino's luck-based powers.
