4. Another Simple Favor
Though a sequel to Paul Feig's dishy comedy thriller A Simple Favor was already inherently straining credibility, the follow-up confirmed itself to be a low-effort cash-in within mere minutes of starting.
It takes just minutes for protagonist Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) to be confronted by her nemesis Emily (Blake Lively), who has inexplicably been released on bail and even more inexplicably, invites Stephanie to be her maid-of-honour at her destination wedding in Italy.
And even more inexplicably, Stephanie accepts the invitation in the very same scene.
The flimsy logic by which Stephanie is compelled to attend the wedding - driven by both a desire to boost her book sales and a dubious legal threat from Emily - gets the movie off on the wrong foot right away.
Above all else, it confirms that this is a sequel that needed to be desperately shoehorned into existence, as the writers couldn't come up with a plausible way to reunite these two characters again.
And the less said about the rest of the film, the better honestly.
