Any film that attempts to dabble in alternate universes or time travel already has a challenge; writers tend to wrap themselves up in plot holes and goofs in an attempt to serve the story and more often than none, we as an audience are left asking more questions than when the film started.

For the third movie in the hit-miss Cloverfield Franchise, the story follows the crew on board an international space station who find themselves at the mercy of strange happenings and alternate-reality crew members. The film's naive parody of deeper films like Event Horizon or Alien isn't what makes it a smug film that flew too close to the fun.

What makes it a dumb movie trying to dress up as a smart one, is the convenient usage of machines and technology that push the plot forward in one direction.

Events including a worm farm growing inside a person, independent, freethinking severed limbs and rogue magnetic beams make for good horror, but when they're introduced as side-effects of science, there are no explanations to back up this theory.

The film dresses up plot holes for "unexplained science". And let's not get started on *that* surprise cameo right at the end.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
