7. Deep Water

Death On The Nile
Hulu

Originally slated for release back in 2020 before being delayed due to the pandemic, Deep Water was marketed as a great showcase for stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, but after its delays was seldom mentioned at all.

To call Deep Water poorly marketed would be a colossal understatement, as neither the stars nor the studio showed any interest in getting it out to the public. It was delayed three times before being indefinitely shelved in 2021, and was then half-heartedly dumped on Amazon Prime, again without any hype.

Watching it, though, it's easy to see why no one was too interested in its success. Affleck and de Armas are on terrific form, but the erotic thriller lacks the drama its twisted premise should have provided.

In another time, Deep Water could've been a slight hit, but it wasn't meant to be, and due to the lack of enthusiasm surrounding it, it's already sunk, sure to be forgotten.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
