3. Saying Goodbye To An Old Friend - Scream

The fifth Scream outing (which is confusingly called "Scream") has the hooded serial killer, Ghostface, come back to Woodsboro to terrorise a new generation of teenagers.

After learning that the killings have started again, a dejected and initially hesitant Dewey once again straps up to defend a new batch of would-be victims. He's soon joined by franchise staples Sidney and Gale, and despite them losing friends, co-workers, and partners at the hands of slasher-obsessed psychopaths again and again, the trio feel like they can survive anything so long as they're together.

That's why it was so heartbreaking to see Ghostface slaughter Dewey in the latest film. Since the former sheriff has been a part of Scream from the beginning and watched over Sidney like a second father, it felt like he was going to be there forever. Despite the fact the killer's identity was insultingly easy to figure out, viewers were sideswiped to see Dewey die.

Because Scream recouped its money in its opening weekend, it looks like another sequel is on the horizon. Sadly, the franchise will never be the same since Deputy Dewey Riley will no longer play a part.
