2. Aunt May Dies - Spider-Man: No Way Home

Since the 1960s, Spider-Man has gone through all sorts of crazy changes. Over the years, we've seen the wallcrawler tie the knot, mutate into a spider, and get possessed by Otto Octavius.

However, there are certain elements in Spider-Man lore that cannot be changed. Firstly, he's an orphan. Secondly, he's indirectly responsible for Uncle Ben's murder. Thirdly, he lives with his aunt May. The comics can have Spidey make a deal with the devil or kill Mary Jane with radioactive sperm (don't ask) but they're not allowed to change those three rules.

Because of this status quo, comic fans couldn't believe it when Aunt May died in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Any time Peter Parker had trouble with the law, supervillains, or his girlfriend, he could always count on May to make him feel better. But with her gone, Peter has never felt more alone.

What's worse is No Way Home concluded with Doctor Strange making everyone forget Peter's existence, including his friends. Because Spider-Man has never been depicted like this before on the big screen, fans cannot wait to see how this will play out in the future.
