10 Recently Announced Movies That Will Probably Never Happen
3. The Wheel Of Time Prequel Trilogy
This past summer, mere months away from Amazon releasing their adaptation of Robert Jordan's fantasy novel series The Wheel of Time, it was announced that a trilogy of unrelated prequel films were being planned, with the first film entitled Age of Legend.
Writer Zack Stentz (Thor) has been hired for the gig, which will be set thousands of years before the events of the novels/TV show, yet clearly hopes to piggyback off the hype surrounding the recently released TV series.
And though The Wheel of Time has been one of Amazon's biggest ever series launches, this really sounds a lot like the cart is being put before the horse.
Just because audiences are tuning in for the first season of a fantasy series - a series which received only broadly positive reviews, keep in mind - that doesn't mean they're in for a prequel trilogy of movies.
Without a studio partner or distributor locked in yet, this sounds exactly like one of those ultra-ambitious projects that gets announced in order to drum up hype but never actually goes anywhere.
Even the general fan response to the announcement has been intensely skeptical so far.
