10 Redeeming Elements In Otherwise Awful Movies

2. The Cast - Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)

....Minus Jesse Eisenberg, of course. He was an interesting choice on paper, but arguing he makes for an effective antagonist is a lost cause at this point. However, when they started to search for supporting players in the second Justice League film, Warner Bros knew exactly who to call. Jeremy Irons as Alfred? I could spend a whole list explaining why that is an inspired idea. It was also good of Snyder to give his Watchmen cast a ring for this film (hello Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson). And while they could have cast an actress with a stronger dramatic resume for Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot proved solid for the 15 minutes she was in the film for.

However, credit where it is due, Ben Affleck was the most inspired choice for Batman. Not only is his return to the world of superhero movies a great comeback story of its own, his screen presence is perfect for the role of Bruce Wayne, a man who is uncomfortable whenever not dressed as a giant bat.

Whatever you think of Zack Snyder, he has never been known as an actor's director. But that said, he is pretty adept at choosing actors for his projects (this was the man who cast Michael Fassbender before it was the thing to do). Batman V. Superman is no exception to this - though the film itself is a depressing slog to sit through, the cast give you hope that there is a better Justice League movie just around the corner.
