5. Chadwick Boseman Was Rejected By The MCU The First Time
Sticking with those actors who had to deal with a soul-crushing rejection before finally settling into their true place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the man who would be king himself Chadwick Boseman actually tried his best to earn another part long before becoming the legendary Black Panther.
Being brutally honest about his mindset heading into his failed audition for the part of Drax in James Gunn's first Guardians of the Galaxy flick, though, the tragically late actor would tell Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show:
"Sometimes that’s the way it works as an actor, you know you’re not going to get it but you’re meeting the people – they might be like, 'It’s not this, but we’ll put him in this other thing.'"
In the end, said deadpan role would eventually be brilliantly taken up by Dave Bautista. But as already seen in the case of Sam Rockwell and noted here by Boseman, Marvel very much kept the star's work in mind when it came time to cast another now-universally-adored face of the MCU.
