9. The Matrix
Much like Total Recall or Planet of the Apes, the Matrix is a prime target for a remake as the next generation of filmmakers comes and goes. Out of all of the movies on this list, this one holds the dubious honor of 'Remake Most Likely To Completely Miss The Point.' Fight Club has a message and a philosophy all its own, but it's harder to remove it completely from the plot and the action. The Matrix, on the other hand, is remembered just as much (if not more so) for its special effects and action choreography as it is its philosophy. This is a shame of course because without the two halves working together the first Matrix wouldn't have been anywhere near as engaging as it was. Unless someone particularly talented gets behind this one, the 203X Matrix remake could very much fall into the same trap that has ensnared so many other remakes that completely gloss over the brainy bits in favor of bigger, dumber action and pointless semi-retreads of iconic scenes. Crank up the explosions and dumb down the plot, that's the way it's done!
